Excellence - University Honors College

Derick Chike En’Wezoh , an Honors College junior majoring in neuroscience with a pre-med emphasis, has been elected as the next president of the Associated Students of Washington State University (ASWSU).

En’Wezoh and running mate Jay Hendrickson, a senior biochemistry major from Richland, presented a platform based on giving students the "resources they need for success at WSU," and on student safety on campus.

The 2009-2010 student body leadership position is the most recent in En’Wezoh’s long line of accomplishments at college.  In 2008-2009, he served as the eleventh Student Regent on the WSU Board of Regents, appointed by Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire to take student opinions and interests to the table.  One of En’Wezoh’s accomplishments was to work for an agreement between ASWSU leadership and the WSU Athletics Department so students would have a voice in Beasley Coliseum seating distribution during basketball seasons.

En’Wezoh served as a senator on ASWSU in his sophomore year, was president of Gannon-Goldsworthy Residence Hall, worked as a Cougar Quest summer camp counselor, and has participated in many multicultural and community service programs, such as benefits to raise money for children in Malawi and Uganda, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, American Red Cross-sponsored blood drives, and Pullman senior citizen organizations.

He is the son of Erick En’Wezoh and Dawn Adams of Kennewick, both WSU alumni.
