Building Excellence One Tile at a Time

Honors College Commemorative Tile Campaign

The Honors College Endowment Fund was established in 1985, during the program’s 25th anniversary.  The impact of private support to the Honors College makes a significant difference for all Honors students, faculty, and staff.

For the past 24 years, this endowment fund has provided permanent revenue for experiences that have enriched the changed students’ lives by funding student research, providing financial assistance to students for study abroad, granting travel funds for students’ research presentations at conferences, funding the Honors Student Advisory Council, supplying special class materials, and sponsoring guest speakers.

Donors have recognized the achievements of Honors graduates by purchasing special engraved tiles and plaques.  These engraved tiles have also been used to: memorialize a loved one, symbolize Cougar pride, and signify support for excellence by a company or organization.

Engraved commemorative tiles are permanently displayed in the Honors Hall Lounge, which is used for many Honors classes, guest programs, thesis presentations, meetings, and social events. The lounge’s focus is the magnificent fireplace, which features bench seating and hardwood surrounding the hearth. Stone engraved tiles are inserted into panels above and around the fireplace.

Gifts to the Endowment of the Honors College create an enduring legacy that provides income year after year. For a gift of $300, donors will be recognized with a 4-by-4-inch engraved stone Scholars Tile. For a gift of $1,000, donors will be recognized with the Medallion Tile inset with a gold Honors College medallion. At this contribution level, donors will also become a President’s Associate of the WSU Foundation. Lifetime Benefactors of the Honors College ($100,000+) will receive a unique inscription stone.
