Assistant Dean of the Washington State University Honors College Jessica Cassleman was presented the 2012 Robert C. Bates Award for her dedication to the advancement of international education programs.  The award was administered by the WSU Office of International Programs.

Honors Students Land 15 SURCA Undergraduate Research Awards; Also Among WSU Academic Showcase Presenters

PULLMAN, Wash.—Washington State University Honors College students made up about one-third of all students competing for prizes at the inaugural Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) on March 30, 2012, and took home a similar percentage of all of the prizes.

Fifty Honors students from majors across campus made oral or poster presentations at SURCA about their research, scholarship, and creative activities—work that is termed “research” for undergraduates at WSU. In total, 39 SURCA awards were presented in eight categories to a total of 44 students and one laboratory WSU-wide; Honors students won 15 of those. » More …

PULLMAN, Wash.—Donald W. Bushaw, 85, a WSU faculty member and professor of mathematics for half a century, passed away Jan. 15, 2012. He was a strong proponent of the fledgling Honors Program that began in 1960, served on its Honors Council for several years starting in 1964, and taught many Honors courses. » More …
