PULLMAN , Wash. – Recommended by the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, Honors College student Selena Galaviz will be the 2008 “highlight student” for the College of Liberal Arts at Washington State University’s fall commencement on December 13 in Pullman. Highlight students are those being recognized for outstanding contributions to WSU and the community. Galaviz believes that she was chosen because of her passion for her speech and hearing sciences major and for her leadership skills. Auvil Fellows Awards Presented to 11 Honors College Scholars for Fall 2008

PULLMAN, Wash.—Students in the Honors College at Washington State University received about one-third of the Auvil Fellows awards presented to undergraduate researchers in fall 2008.

The Auvil Fellows awards of $1,000 each were announced Oct. 1 by WSU Director of Undergraduate Research David F. Bahr.  A record number of awards were made (31) to the largest pool of applicants since the program began in 2007.  The fall awards are the fifth set presented to students who participate in mentored “research, scholarship, or creative activity,” as defined by Bahr’s office. » More …

Four Honors Students Are Top Recipients in WSU Libraries’ Student Research Excellence Awards

PULLMAN, Wash. — Four Honors College students have landed top places in the WSU Libraries second annual Student Research Excellence Awards on the Pullman campus.

Tied for first place, and receiving $1,000, is Alison Kirpes, a senior in English. She submitted her Honors thesis as her application, entitled, “From Harlot to Human Being: The Revised Anna Karenina.” Her advisor for the project is Professor Birgitta Ingemanson, of the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures. » More …
