M. Grant Norton Selected as WSU Honors College Dean

PULLMAN, Wash. – M. Grant Norton, a professor with the Washington State University School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, has been selected as the new dean of the university’s Honors College.

“The Honors College and its associated programs are extremely important parts of WSU’s undergraduate programs,” said Warwick M. Bayly, WSU provost and executive vice president. “Grant impressed everyone with his enthusiasm and the quality of his ideas during the interview process.  I am confident he will effectively lead the college through the next phase of its development.” » More …

Honors College student Jared S. Brickman spent fall 2010 traveling three oceans and visiting 12 countries on four continents. Packaged as a Semester At Sea study abroad experience, the 109-day adventure proved a turning point for the (then) junior from Baker City, Oreg. In Portland, he says, a brief pre-sailing get-together with his friend Kelly became…“a meeting which served as the last memory of my old life.”He travelled with 600 other students aboard the MV Explorer, with its crew of 100. » More …

Three Honors Student-Athletes Are Selected for the All Pac-12 Academic Team

In spring 2012, Honors College students Brianne Gould, Erin Ranney, and Emily Farrar earned All Pac-12 Academic Team honors.

To be eligible for the All Pac-12 Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average (GPA), take part in at least 50 percent of competitions, be a starter or significant contributor, and be in his or her second academic year at the institution. There are three categories of the All Pac-12 Academic Team: first-team, second-team, and honorable mention. To be eligible for first-team academic recognition, a student must have a minimum 3.50 GPA. » More …
