DESCRIPTION:Colin S. Campbell (’95)\, PhD \nKeynote Speaker \nHonors College Commencement Ceremony \nFriday\, December 9\, 2022 \n \nDr. Colin S. Campbell is a senior research scientist with METER Group\, Inc. (a Pullman WA based company) and currently serves as the President and CEO. He is also an adjunct professor with the Dept. of Crop and Soil Sciences at Washington State University where he teaches a class in environmental biophysics. He graduated from WSU and the Honors Program in 1995 with a degree in Soil Science. Following a PhD. in Soil Physics at Texas A&M University\, Dr. Campbell has spent the last 22 years developing sensors and instruments to make environmental measurements.  He also is active with colleagues around the world conducting experiments to solve problems related to climate change and agriculture and spends considerable time disseminating this research through in-person and online seminars across the globe. One of the highlights of his career was working together with Decagon (METER) colleagues to design and build the Thermal and Electrical Conductivity Probe that measured water on the surface of Mars as a part of NASA’s 2007 Phoenix Mission. Dr. Campbell serves on several committees and boards including the National Academy of Science Soils Committee and the American Society of Agronomy Board.  He was recently named a fellow of the Soil Science Society of America and American Society of Agronomy.
