Walton Lecture – Carson College of Business

The Walton Lecture brings a distinguished leader in the insurance and risk management field to campus to share professional perspectives with students. The lecture is hosted by the WSU College of Business’ Department of Finance and Management Science and made possible through an endowment from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington. The endowment honors Max Walton, the group’s past president.

Steve Legg has been with Starbucks since 1997, serving as director of risk management since 2006. His responsibilities include global property and casualty insurance, claims management, risk financing activities, and management of the risk team within Starbucks’s treasury and risk management department. Legg served on the Board of the Washington State RIMS chapter for seven years, serving as president in 2005-2006. He has a degree in political economy from the University of California at Berkeley. Legg lives in the Seattle area with his wife Carla and their seven-year-old twins.
