Residential Energy Use and Efficiency Internationally

Energy is key to human survival. Where and how humans have gotten their energy has changed over time and the total amount needed has increased as the population of the world has grown. Since the industrial revolution coal, oil and gas have been the main energy sources which are the main contributors to anthropogenic climate change. Climate change is fundamentally altering our world. The changing climate is one of the reasons that improving energy use and efficiency is necessary. Energy efficiency, use, and generation varies between low and high income countries along with geographic location. Residential or home energy use is one of the places most people have control over and was the topic of my senior design project. Residential energy consumption is analyzed for countries around the world and compared to the US. To meet the challenges of climate change there needs to be better understanding of energy use that will allow for reducing and improving our energy usage.
