MLK 2018 Community Celebration with Keynote Speaker Shaun King

Since 1986, the first year of the Martin Luther King holiday, Washington State University has held an annual program to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The annual celebration highlights the work and service of WSU community members contributing to social justice through arts, leadership, and volunteerism.

Shaun King, prominent journalist and activist, will be this year’s keynote speaker at the community celebration. As the senior justice writer for the New York Daily News and a regular political commentator, King covers the Black Lives Matter movement, police brutality, discrimination and social justice issues across the nation. His speech titled “The New Civil Rights Movement”, part of the community celebration, will be livestreamed at 7 p.m. on January 18.
