Funds


Faculty Excellence    

  • Honors College Endowment for Faculty Excellence
    Supports Honors College Faculty in their efforts to offer the best possible academic experiences for their students.  This may include curriculum development, on- and off-campus activities, events, and speakers.

General Support

  • Honors College Development Fund
    Provides discretionary support for the Honors College.
  • Honors College Endowment Fund
    Provides discretionary support for the Honors College.
  • R.D. McCroskey Excellence Fund Endowment
    Used at the Dean’s discretion to support student and faculty endeavors that demonstrate excellence and support the mission and values of the Honors College.  This fund is used in ways that promotes high standards of scholarship and achievement, global awareness, research and creativity, and that develop skills in critical thinking, writing, public presentation, and information literacy.
  • Judy H. Roberts Honors College Endowment
    Provides discretionary support for the Honors College.

Lectureships    

  • V.N. Bhatia Lectureship
    In memory of former Honors Director, V.N. Bhatia, this fund provides support for the Bhatia Lecture Series that brings major speakers to Pullman.

Scholarships, Fellowships, and Internships  

  • Wayne Asmussen Honors College Scholarship
  • Elma Ryan-Bornander Fund
    Used to award scholarship(s) to students who have completed at least one semester in the WSU Honors College, are in good academic standing in the College, show a promise of leadership, and are in need of financial assistance to pay for books, tuition, and/or required course fees to continue their education.
  • Beardsley Family Foundation Honors Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Endowment
    Used to award scholarship(s) to WSU students according to:  participant in the Honors College Veterinary Medicine program; with an interest in working in large animal veterinary practice; preference to residents of the state of Washington; and preference to students with demonstrated financial need.
  • Sidney R. Buckley and Daughter Honors Scholarship
    Awards scholarship(s) to support deserving Honors students from Eastern Washington.
  • Can-Do Scholarship Fund
    Used to award mini-grants to Honors Veterinary Medicine students.  Examples of allowable uses include, but are not limited to, attendance at seminars and participation in field research.
  • John W. Caunt Scholarship Fund
    Provides support for student(s) enrolled at the WSU Pullman campus.  Those considered for this annual scholarship must meet the following criteria:  demonstrate financial need; recipient shall be accepted and enrolled as an undergraduate student at WSU in the Honors College; state of Washington resident graduating from a Washington high school; a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or better, GPA of 3.2 or better while enrolled at WSU; consistent progress toward degree, and evidence of rigorous academic course selection; demonstrate extra-curricular involvement but not limited to athletic participation.
  • Hauser-Emtman Endowed Honors Scholarship
    Used to award scholarship(s) to students of WSU who meet the following criteria: 1) participating in an approved foreign study experience via WSU Education Abroad; 2) with first preference to students in the Honors College AND studying computer science, music or preparing to become a K-12 teacher; 3) if no Honors students described in (2) are available, then to any student in the Honors College.
  • Hauser Family Endowed Scholarship
    Used to award scholarship(s), according to WSU’s Policy for Administering Financial Aid Restricted by Race, Gender, Color, Ethnicity or National Origin, to students in the Honors College at WSU, according to the following criteria:  1) African-American, Asian-Pacific/Pacific Islander, Chicano/Latin-American, or Native American; 2) with demonstrated financial need; 3) in the event that no qualified students under (1) above apply for the scholarship, it shall be made available to all Honors College students with demonstrated financial need.
  • Kristin Herzog Honors Scholarship
    Provides scholarship(s) to WSU students who are admitted to or enrolled in the Honors College.  Recipients shall be selected on the basis of both demonstrated merit and financial need.
  • Honors College Endowed Scholarship Fund
    Awards scholarship(s) to students in the Honors College at Washington State University.
  • Honors College Scholarship Fund
    Provides scholarship(s) and fellowship(s) to students who have expressed interest in the Honors College or who are currently enrolled in the Honors College.
  • Jacklin Family Honors College Education Abroad
    Provides scholarship(s) to WSU students enrolled in the Honors College who meet the criteria for study abroad or other international travel experiences.
  • M.E. and Maxine Johnson Honors College Scholarship Fund
    Provides scholarship support to deserving and qualified undergraduate students enrolled in the WSU Honors College and working toward a degree either on a WSU campus or abroad.  Scholarship candidates will be considered primarily on the basis of their academic achievement and financial need.
  • Frank and Diana Kirkbride Endowed Honors Scholarship
    Award scholarship(s) to students in the Honors College.  Selection criteria shall include demonstrated leadership capacity, community services, and capabilities in their chosen academic field.  Recipients(s) shall be given the title “Kirkbride Fellow.”  Students must be FAFSA filers who are not Pell eligible but qualify for the Stafford Loan Program (Subsidized and Unsubsidized).
  • Barbara J. Kirschner Honors College Scholarship Fund
    Awards scholarship(s) to Honors College students majoring in Nursing.  Absent a qualified nursing student then Honors students majoring in Fine Arts or demonstrating an interest in theater can receive the scholarship. 
  • Lewis and Sarah Lee Honors Scholarship Endowment
    Awards scholarship(s) to WSU students who are certified in the Honors College, with preference given to students who were homeschooled.
  • Leff Family Honors College Education Abroad Endowment
    Provides scholarship(s) to WSU Honors College students.  Applications would be accepted and reviewed annually by a faculty/staff committee based on:  good academic standing within the Honors College, financial need, and review of students’ proposal that describe their reasons for wanting to study abroad, along with verification that they will be participating in a WSU-sponsored education abroad program.  The students selected would be designated as Leff Scholars.
  • Richard McKinney Honors College Study Abroad Endowment
    Provides scholarship(s) to WSU students enrolled in the Honors College who meet the criteria for study abroad or other international travel experiences.
  • Eugene and Linda Voiland Endowed Engineering/Honors Scholarship
    Awards scholarship(s) to WSU Honors Engineering students in their sophomore, junior, or senior years.  In making the awards, the scholarship committee shall look for recipients who:  are either majoring in or have expressed a strong interest in Chemical Engineering; have financial need; have demonstrated self-motivation and leadership potential; have good writing skills; are not at the top of their class, and therefore are not recipients of a lot of additional scholarship support (e.g. cannot be Presidential or Regents Scholars). In the event that no Chemical Engineering Honors students can be identified who meets the criteria in a given year, the scholarship may be awarded to an Honors student majoring in another field of engineering.
  • Walker Scholarship Endowment
    Provides scholarship(s) to first generation college students enrolled in the Honors College based on:  1) demonstrated financial need and 2) major or expressed interest in the liberal arts or social science disciplines.
  • Colin and Kris White University Honors College Scholarship Endowment
    Awards scholarship(s) to sophomores, juniors, and/or seniors at WSU who are enrolled in the Honors College with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.  Recipient(s) will be enrolled in one of the majors/minors in the College of Business or have plans to pursue a major in business.
  • WSU Education Abroad Endowment
    Awards scholarship(s) to WSU’s most qualified undergraduate students who plan to study abroad according to the following criteria:  maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; demonstrate financial need; submit an essay that describes academic and personal goals for study abroad experiences; provide verification that they will be participating in a WSU-approved education abroad program.
