Auvil Fellows Awards Presented to 11 Honors College Scholars for Fall 2008

PULLMAN, Wash.—Students in the Honors College at Washington State University received about one-third of the Auvil Fellows awards presented to undergraduate researchers in fall 2008.

The Auvil Fellows awards of $1,000 each were announced Oct. 1 by WSU Director of Undergraduate Research David F. Bahr.  A record number of awards were made (31) to the largest pool of applicants since the program began in 2007.  The fall awards are the fifth set presented to students who participate in mentored “research, scholarship, or creative activity,” as defined by Bahr’s office.

“It’s very exciting that our Honors College students have competed for and received so many of the prestigious Auvil Fellows awards,” says Libby Walker, dean of the Honors College.

“They are from a wide variety of majors from several colleges.  That reflects the diversity of our scholars and their research interests in many fields.  We look forward to seeing the results from their work as Auvil Fellows.
