Honors alumni presents thesis at American Psychological Association meeting in San Francisco

2018 Honors College graduate Hayley Masterson presented her honors thesis at the American Psychological Association meeting in San Francisco in August. Hayley worked with Honors Faculty Fellow Dr. Phyllis Erdman (WSU College of Education) and Dr. Lori Kogan (Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine) in the 2nd cohort of the Human-Animal Interaction Collaborative (HAIC) between the honors colleges of WSU and CSU. Hayley graduated in microbiology and her honors thesis (“Animal Loss and Grief Experience of Pet Owners: How to prepare pet owners for the end of life process”) received “Pass with Distinction.”

Honors Student Theses Among Most-Used Documents at WSU Research Exchange

The WSU Research Exchange has noted that several Honors student Pass with Distinction theses are among the most frequently accessed documents on the exchange.

As of May 2016, Chelsea Bloomberg’s thesis, “Beethoven’s piano sonatas: an analysis of compositional trends from 1795-1822” was ranked #5 most downloaded document and has been accessed more than 6100 times.

Jeff Deeter’s thesis, “The price response to Dow Jones sustainability world index additions and deletions in 2005: An event study” was ranked #3 and has been accessed over 6900 times.

A Jared-S.-Brickman Snapshot of the World, in 200-Some Pages

Honors College student Jared S. Brickman spent fall 2010 traveling three oceans and visiting 12 countries on four continents.  Packaged as a Semester At Sea study abroad experience, the 109-day adventure proved a turning point for the (then) junior from Baker City, Oreg.  In Portland, he says, a brief pre-sailing get-together with his friend Kelly became…“a meeting which served as the last memory of my old life.” » More …
