HSAC is a student group within the Honors College dedicated to ensuring a positive and rewarding experience for all students.  One of HSAC’s main goals is to create a sense of community within the Honors student body.

“This year, we put a lot of effort into designing multiple academic-themed events that would bring our students together,” says HSAC co-president Nicole Sawatzki.

“The recognition we received shows us that we’re reaching our students and succeeding as an organization.  It’s good to know that we’re making such a strong impact here at WSU.”

HSAC focuses its programming efforts toward the 550+ members of the Honors College, but plans events for the broader university community. Members of HSAC coordinate weekly teas in Honors Hall for students and professors, arrange special activities such as cider pressing in the fall, and sponsor special Dad’s Weekend and Mom’s Weekend brunches for Honors students and their families.

This year, HSAC also focused on educational programs that ranged from an “Earth and Economics Series” to Presidential debates and selection of the Honors Invited Lecture presenter.  Many HSAC members serve as Honors College ambassadors to tell prospective students about their college experiences, or as Honors College mentors to provide support to new students from all majors. Membership is open to any student in the Honors College.
