WSU alum awarded for career working to end hunger, malnutrition

A simple premise, but an incredibly challenging goal. One that set Lumpkin on a career path which produced new agricultural innovations and led to international leadership positions.

Neuroscience Student Publishes Honors Thesis

Julianna BrutmanHonors College student and Goldwater Scholar Julianna Brutman majoring in Neuroscience has published the results of her Honors thesis in the peer-reviewed international journal Physiology & Behavior. Julianna’s thesis advisor was Professor Jon Davis in the Department of Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience at Washington State University. In summer 2016, Julianna wrote and was awarded a young investigator grant from Washington State ADARP (Alcohol and Drug Abuse Research Program) to investigate hypothalamic epigenetic changes in obese rodents exposed to a high-fat diet. Her data describing binge feeding in female rates was selected for a “hot topic” presentation at the international conference of The Obesity Society in November 2016. » More …

Honors Alumnus Lewis Lee named to Fed’s Advisory Council

Lewis LeeThe Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco has named Lewis Lee, founding partner of Spokane-based Lee & Hayes PLLC intellectual-property law firm, to its Economic Advisory Council. The nine-member advisory council is part of the Twelfth Federal Reserve, which is largest by geography and size of its economy.

Lewis is a graduate of the Honors College and obtained a BS in Electrical Engineering and a BA in Business Administration from Washington State University before getting his JD from George Washington University School of Law. » More …

As we embark on this holiday season, I would like to extend “Season’s Greetings” to everyone on behalf of the Office of International Programs (IP).

This has been a truly remarkable year in our efforts to globalize Washington State University. The successful launch of the INTO WSU partnership has already resulted in more than 150 new international students in the fall semester, and an additional 109 confirmed entrants for spring 2018.
