WSU Honors College Professor’s Assignment Published on National Curricular Resources Website


PULLMAN, Wash. – An assignment used as part of an arts and humanities class at the Honors College at WSU was one of just eight national submissions to be highlighted as a curricular resource on the website of the Council of Writing Program Administrators (CWPA).

“The people at the CWPA were looking for concrete examples of excellent assignments,” says Diane Kelly-Riley, co-director of the Writing Program in the University College at WSU and member of the CWPA. “The aim of each assignment is to help students gain the rhetorical skills that are critical for college success.” » More …

WSU Honors College Students, Faculty Awarded at Spring 2012 Commencement Banquet

PULLMAN, Wash. — Students, faculty, friends, and family associated with the Honors College at Washington State University recognized and celebrated the achievements of more than 90 graduating seniors Friday, May 4, 2012 in the MG Carey Senior Ballroom of the Compton Union Building.

Among the graduates, a record 68 percent will be heading to graduate school.  In addition, 79 percent completed advanced foreign language courses, 38 percent studied abroad, and 81 percent earned Latin Honors with a GPA above 3.5. » More …

Fifteen Honors College Students, Faculty Recognized at WSU University College Awards Ceremony April 17

PULLMAN, Wash.-Among the honorees at the fifth annual awards ceremony hosted by the University College at Washington State University were 15 Honors College students and faculty members.  The ceremony was held Tuesday April 17, 2012 in the Lewis Alumni Centre.

Honors students and faculty accounted for over one-third of the awards presented, which included the college’s Faculty Thesis Advisor of the Year Awards. The Honors College is one of several affiliated units on campus that join the University College each spring in acknowledging the scholarly achievements of the WSU’s faculty, students, and staff.

Kelsey Withrow, junior zoology major from Escalon, Calif. has a head start in her veterinary career  by working as an intern with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Washington State University. Withrow, who plans to go to vet school, is enjoying this three-semester, competitive position. » More …
